The Hisaar Foundation, in collaboration with leading academic, policy, and development partners, is hosting the 7th Karachi International Water Conference on 28–29 October 2025 at the Karachi School of Business Leadership (KSBL). With the unique theme “Water, People, Health – Coping with the Floods”, the conference promises to be one of the region’s most influential gatherings on water, climate resilience, and sustainable development, offering a distinct focus on people-centric solutions.

At a time when Pakistan faces devastating floods, water insecurity, and worsening climate impacts, the event seeks to move the debate beyond crisis response towards long-term, people-centred solutions. Thought leaders from across Pakistan and the globe will explore ways to manage water equitably, ensure food security, and safeguard public health.

The distinguished speaker line-up includes a diverse range of experts, from Dr. Zulfiqar Bhutta, a globally recognised educator and scientist, to Ahmed Rafay Alam, a leading environmental lawyer. Policymakers, philanthropists, academics, and international experts who bring diverse perspectives on environment, governance, and sustainable business practices are also joining.

According to Mr. Zohair Ashir, a leading advocate for developing flood and climate resilience, the Karachi International Water Conference has become a landmark forum in South Asia’s policy landscape. Past editions have shaped debate and influenced water, development, and environmental justice decision-making. The 2025 edition will build on this legacy, highlighting the human cost of recurring floods while pushing for collective strategies to protect vulnerable communities.

Conference Director Ms. Sanaa Zulfikar described the gathering as “an urgent call to action for governments, civil society, and businesses to place people at the heart of water and climate policy. We are not simply talking about infrastructure or technology but survival, dignity, and resilience.”

The event will host a variety of engaging sessions, including panel discussions on water management, plenaries on climate resilience, and networking sessions to facilitate cross-sector dialogue between policymakers, researchers, development agencies, farmers’ representatives, and community leaders.

According to the editor-in-chief of greeningdotlive, with Pakistan ranking among the world’s most climate-vulnerable countries, the 7th Karachi International Water Conference is expected to provide a critical platform for charting a bold, inclusive, and future-focused water agenda.
