The University of Southern Punjab Multan has launched an innovative AI-powered online attendance system to streamline classroom management and enhance accountability.

The initiative, developed by the university’s in-house technology team, was formally unveiled this week and has already begun rolling out across departments. The University's rector praised the developers for their ingenuity and dedication, describing the project as “a proud moment that reflects our institution’s forward-looking vision.”

“This system is more than just a tool for recording presence; it symbolizes our commitment to embracing digitalization in every aspect of academic life,” Dr. Mukhtar said in his remarks. “Adopting such modern solutions ensures that our students and faculty remain aligned with global higher education standards.”

The attendance app, initially available on Android phones, offers a convenient way for faculty to register attendance in real time. The University academic leadership say it will reduce errors and improve monitoring, ensuring better engagement and timely interventions when needed.

In addition to its digital benefits, the system is also being celebrated as an environmentally friendly initiative. The university is taking a meaningful step toward sustainability and greening its operations by significantly reducing the use of paper traditionally produced from green plants. This aligns with the institution’s broader mission to integrate eco-conscious practices into its academic and administrative framework, a move that we can all be proud of.

Faculty members  have welcomed the innovation expressing their excitement about the new system. This is a sign of the university’s commitment to efficiency, transparency, and modern learning environments aligning with global standards.

“With this launch, we are not just keeping pace with the digital era; we are setting a precedent for other institutions across Pakistan,” the team lead and Additional Registrar, Mr. Imran Khalid, added.
